Our lawyer, Michał Sankowski, Attorney-at-Law was a guest of PR Channel One broadcast titled ‘Look Right – Consumer’s Tutorial’ where he discussed the possibilities of claiming maintenance from individuals who have emigrated abroad.
The issue is quite topical nowadays. Many young Poles travel to work abroad and some of them forget to provide maintenance in favour of their children staying in Poland. Residing abroad does not exempt them, however, from their maintenance obligations towards children. Yet the method and tribunal for pursuing maintenance depends on the debtor’s and beneficiary’s country of residence. During the programme, Michał Sankowski, Attorney-at-Law explained what steps had to be taken in order to enforce maintenance and what can be done if the debtor’s address is not known.
